Community Development

Paul Roback at meeting

The Community Development Educator facilitates programs in a number of priority areas in Washington County. Backed by University of Wisconsin research, the Community Development Educator works with local government, civic organizations, non-profit organizations, businesses and community leaders to enhance local decision-making and help communities respond to new challenges and opportunities. These priorities change as local needs change.  As facilitators, the Community Development Educator works in partnership with local people and organizations to meet identified local needs.

2017 Washington County Nonprofits and the Economy Survey

A Nonprofit Coalition that includes UW-Extension, UW-Washington County, United Way of Washington County, and the Volunteer Center of Washington County surveyed area nonprofits to measure the fiscal health of the nonprofit community, identify nonprofit educational needs, and measure the longer-term outcomes of the educational workshops hosted by the Nonprofit Coalition. Results of this survey can be found in the report Nonprofits & the Economy Research Project: 2017 Survey Results.  This report is based on similar surveys conducted in 2012 and 2015.
