This 4-H project is designed to help you explore the world of photography. From learning about camera equipment to capturing great images and sharing what you have learned with others, you are bound to love photography!

Meetings

Jan. 23, 2024 – Tuesday – 1st Year – Level 1 – Beginner Photography Meeting “Let’s Get Started”

  • 6:30-8:00pm (Fair Park – Ziegler Building)
  • RSVP no later than Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 — watch your email for additional info & RSVP link
  • Bring: Camera (fully charged batteries and an empty SD card) and a folder for handouts

Feb. 20, 2024 – Tuesday – All Levels “Fun With Photography Meeting”

  • 6:30-8:00pm (Fair Park – West Meeting room and South meeting room in Ziegler Building)
  • RSVP no later than Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 — watch your email for additional info & RSVP link
  • Bring: Camera, tripod, your scavenger hunt photos, and a folder for handouts

Feb. 27, 2024 – Tuesday – All Levels – “Flash, Focus, Fun: Explore Your Photography Potential with an Expert“

  • Tuesday, February 27th (RSVP deadline is February 23rd) 6:30-8:00pm (Fair Park – Pavilion – Room #112). Bring: Camera (fully charged), Tripod, Folder (for handouts).

  • Give yourself a chance to shine in front of and behind the camera! Join an experienced photographer and learn how to pose with confidence, finding inspiration in the world around you to capture stunning angles in photographs. Impress your friends and collect likes on social media with your picture-perfect shots!

March 5, 2024, 6pm at Washington County Fairgrounds, Pavilion – Tuesday – All Levels – “Creating Photo Crafts”
Now is the time to bring these photos to this event and make some fun crafts with your own photos. If you are unable to bring a photo for a specific craft no need to worry there will be photos available. Just remember that to enter your craft at the fair it must be a photo of your own. Below is a list of photos that each youth should bring with them. Please check the notes under some of the photos! We want each craft to turn out.
 
What to Bring to the Meeting:
  • Camera, batteries, SD card, tripod.  Phones will not work for light writing.  If you purchase and bring a SD card-we will have extra cameras available for use.

We suggest printing out the photos using the Walmart 1 hour or instant photo kiosk. The photo paper (FUJIFILM) that they print on is best for colorizing photos. Unfortunately, some crafts may not work when photos are NOT printed on FUJIFILM Quality Dry Photo Paper. (We have tested them)

  • (4) 4×6  photos (taken this year)
  • (2) 4×6 photos (taken this year)
    • only 3″ circle will be used – make sure the subject of the photo is no larger than 3″ or you will be losing some of the subject
  • 1 Black and White photo 4×6 or larger (taken this year)
    • Larger photos are easier to learn on
There will be photos available for all crafts if you are unable to bring any. However, note that you may not enter your craft in the fair unless you took the photo during this 4-H year which started the first day of last year’s fair.
