The Washington County 4-H program successfully completed their annual Summer Camp trip June 11-14 to Upham Woods in the Wisconsin Dells. There were 103 campers (3rd-8th grade, high schoolers serving as camp counselors, and adult volunteers). 4-H Educators Ron Jakubisin and Kelly Dione, along with UW-Intern/AmeriCorps members Emily Schmidt and Stephanie Hartwell also attended and were involved in the camp planning process.
Special thanks to Melissa Kescenovitz, Volunteer Camp Coordinator and Stephanie Hartwell as the planning committee leads who coordinated pre-camp training days as well as all of the details…schedule books, nametags, cabin assignments, equipment packing, etc.
A big shout out to Lee Delcore, 4-H Volunteer and Shooting Sports Instructor for hauling archery equipment and teaching a fun lesson on the archery range. Much appreciation to the Washington County Leaders Association fund-raising committee – Katie Martinka & Mindy Riesen – for efforts to reduce the registration fees for all the 4-H families.
Lastly, without adults, we would not have camp. Thank you for taking time off work and your busy schedules to sit on a bus, sleep in cabins and put all of your attention and positivity towards youth for 3 nights/4 days!Â
