Cavy Project
Welcome to the Washington County 4-H cavy project.
The 4-H cavy project helps members learn how to properly care for, handle, and exhibit cavies (guinea pigs). Participants gains hands-on experience in selecting healthy animals, providing proper husbandry, showmanship, and preparing their guinea pigs for exhibition.
The project promotes responsibility, communication, education, and connection through meetings, events, and local show opportunities.
Exhibiting cavies is possible for many families due to their compact size and space requirements in comparison to larger animal projects. With 13 recognized cavy breeds in the USA, this project truly provides a well-rounded and unique opportunity for youth members.
