How to Apply for a Wisconsin 4-H Charter

Every 4-H Club or Group in Wisconsin must have a charter. A charter is official permission from the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension that allows a club or group to use the 4-H name and emblem. It also shows that the club follows the rules and goals of the Wisconsin 4-H program.

Why the Charter Matters

The charter:

  • Confirms your club is part of Wisconsin 4-H.
  • Helps with insurance coverage for volunteers and members.
  • Supports planning and evaluation of your club’s educational activities.

Key Dates

  • The online charter application opens on September 1.
  • The deadline to submit it is November 1.
