Washington County 4-H sparked curiosity and creativity this summer with a new series of STEM-focused day camps, offering local youth hands-on opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun, engaging environment.
The 2025 4-H Summer Day Camps welcomed both current 4-H members and youth of Washington County new to the program, creating a welcoming space for learning and discovery. Campers in grades 3–8 had the option to attend STEM Camp or Build It! Camp, each featuring three days packed with hands-on activities.
Highlights included
- rocketry
- robotics
- engineering challenges
- forensic science
- geocaching
- circuitry
- renewable energy projects using solar and wind power.
While exploring these exciting STEM concepts, youth also built valuable life skills such as teamwork, consensus-building, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership—all core principles of the 4-H program.
For younger youth in grades K–2, 4-H offered a one-day Cloverbud Camp, which introduced campers to creative arts and science through nature-based projects, cooking activities, and cooperative games designed to inspire imagination and collaboration.
“These camps are all about giving kids the opportunity to learn by doing,” said Kelly Dione. “Whether they were launching rockets or working together to solve a challenge, they were building skills that will last a lifetime.”
Washington County 4-H continues to provide youth with educational experiences that blend fun, hands-on learning with personal growth.
