Youth for the Quality Care of Animals Training
Reminder: Meat Animal Quality Assurance (MAQA) and the National Pork Board Youth PQA program will be replaced by Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA).
YQCA is a national, multi-species quality assurance program for youth ages 8 to 21 and is available in an interactive online format or in-person program through certified trainers.
A face-to-face training will still be held in Washington County at the January Animal Science Association meeting.
New this year, ALL market (beef, sheep, and swine) youth are required to complete YQCA certification in order to sell at county fair. Youth showing dairy, goats, poultry, or rabbits at State Fair are also required to complete this training.
This program will cost $3/person for the face-to-face training or $12/person for the online training. This is a requirement of the national program and is paid online during the registration process.
YQCA will count as an educational as long as it is taken at an in-person training open to everyone. If a youth decides to take YQCA online or through a restricted enrollment class, it will count only towards certification status and not as an educational.
You must be registered online before the training begins in order to be certified and have YQCA count as an educational.
To register for YQCA:
1. Go to yqca.org
2. Create an account and follow the step-by-step instructions.
3. If you will be attending the session at the January ASA meeting, please select: West Bend: Public Agency Center, Room 1113 A/B
4. Pay the $3.00 training fee.
